Is Taylor Swift Dating Matty Healy?
An important investigation
On yesterday’s podcast, the Hollywood gossip account DeuxMoi, dropped the bombshell that Taylor Swift and Matty Healy have been “dating.” Some immediate thoughts fired through the synapses of my brain:
I predicted this. I swear on everything in my life, in one of my notebooks or notes apps or on one of my social media accounts I predicted that Taylor’s next boyfriend would be none other than The 1975’s front man. I’ve always believed she needs to be with another musician or writer and he seems like just her type.
How is this possible? She and Joe allegedly broke up around the end of March, right before her tour began on March 17. She’s been touring every weekend, but spending time in New York, mostly. However, we did spot her filming a music video in London, right after the breakup news broke.
Matty Healy denied dating Taylor back in 2013/2014, saying being with her would be “de-masculating.”
He’s British, and Taylor loves her a British boy.
Taylor replaced ‘invisible string’ with ‘the 1,’ a song that begins with the line, “I’m doing good, I’m on some new shit,” following the news of her split.
Considering all these things, I was not sure what to believe at first. Nothing added up perfectly, but since this cryptic podcast clip dropped, more evidence has been brought to light.
The 1975 recently played a show in Manila during which the set list was altered. The band started out the show playing an acoustic version of the song “Me & You” but only sang the lines, “I’ve been in love with her for ages,” before drawing a T on the camera and kissing it. Then, the song “She’s American” was added to the show, during which Matty said, “Yes she is!”
Prior to the show that kicked off the Eras Tour in Glendale, fans were excited to hear The 1975 on the pre-show setlist.
DeuxMoi has been sharing an influx of messages from music industry insiders who claim this is while very recent, common knowledge.
The public has had mixed feelings on the rumor.
Because of Matty Healy’s bad boy reputation, many are hesitant to believe Taylor, who has been so careful with her public image since Snakegate, would enter into a relationship with a controversial figure.
A large portion of the population seems to be focused on the timeline. Sources close to Taylor insist that the Joe breakup is, in fact recent, taking place during or right before the start of the Eras Tour, which has taken up 3-4 days of Taylor’s week, here in America, for the last seven weeks.
The fanbase of Taylor Swift and The 1975 is quite incestuous, with a lot of overlap, and fans that reside in the middle of that Venn diagram are a mix of shocked, thrilled, and horrified by the news.
Personally, I believe it makes sense that the two perhaps reconnected in London following Taylor’s breakup and have since been texting. I’ll be looking for easter eggs in the secret songs at this weekends’ concerts in Nashville.
